Bio
So you want to know a little bit about me? Well let’s see, I was raised in Vancouver, WA (no not Canada) a great small(ish) town right above Portland, OR. I went to Elementary school and was always a weird kid. In first grade I decided I didn’t want to take the bus so I said the 6 year old version of “Fuck it.” and walked instead. It was only about 8 blocks but I just didn’t like taking the bus.
In 2nd grade my (my younger sister and I) school was being remodeled so we were at a temp school. The place we were having school at was about a mile or so away. I still didn’t like the bus but this time I convinced my sister to come with me. She was only in Kindergarden so it was not the hardest thing to do. However at 2nd grade, walking to school when it was a mile away and you didn’t really know where you were going wasn’t a good idea.
For middle school I went to a The Vancouver School of Arts and Academics. Absolutely wonderful school. I picked up drumming and percussion as an art form and grew exponentially in music. I also got a drumset in 8th grade. I was apart of the Djembe ensemble, the School Band, most theatrical productions and just about anything they needed a drummer/percussionist for. It was/is a small school so after all the older drummers graduated it was just me. I did some pretty odd things at VSAA. The most memorable of them were wearing a bathrobe on a VERY regular basis as my main coat, wearing a bright orange jacket at my main coat, shaving my legs to wear nothing else but a skirt to serve, the girls that won the bet, lunch and constructing my very own Junk Set for playing. Oh the good times.
I got my first computer in 9th grade. A late 2001 600mhz iBook. I am in fact typing on it right now. I got into the Apple Macintosh pretty hardcore (or as hardcore as a computer nerd/hobiest can get) and just learned and learned about the Mac. It ended up getting me several jobs too.
In 11th grade I joined a small garage band called Smiling Politely. Those were some very good times. Composing, recording, hanging out, cruising, making new friends, raising money for shows, playing shows, rehearsal. I don’t regret any of it for a minute. Jonny, Dave and Mike, you guys rock.
I graduated from high school in June of 2005. There is a whole rebellious story there but It would be at least as long as I’ve typed before so that’s for another time. I got a job at Power Mac Pac in the service department doing tech work. At the end of the summer I left and lived in Takoma Park, MD with my Uncle’s family. I worked at Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center in the Keyboard department.
I am attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA since May of 2006. I am studying, among other things, drumming and music synthesis.
Hopefully as good and interesting things happen to me I’ll write the best of them here.
